Renai’s Client Story
I was in a highly competitive industry, and I had what some would call a very glamorous career. But it just wasn’t fulfilling, and I wanted something that was going to fulfill me. I wanted it, and I wanted it badly.
I know that people who are really successful have coaches, so I started to look for someone who would be right for me. I selected Seth because of his process and how he was so interested in my story. I also thought his credentials were really impressive. When I met him, I said, “You know, I have PsyD envy, because I’ve always wanted to get a PsyD.” And I remember him just so kindly saying, “I’m no better than you are.” And he meant it, with every ounce of sincerity. That helped me see how I sometimes put people on pedestals just because of a few initials behind their name, and that was really eye-opening and enlightening for me.
Seth believed in me, he really did. He got me, which a lot of people don’t necessarily get me. He understood what my dreams were, and when I was tempted to give up, he didn’t. Instead, he gave me perspective on what it was going to take to get there, saying, “You know, Renai, you’re going to have to sink your teeth in a little bit. Maybe it’s not going to happen as quickly as you think it’s going to happen, but if you keep plugging away, you’re going to get there.” I needed that kind of vision for myself from someone whose opinions and experience I trusted.
Just when I felt like I was going to, not give up, but maybe settle, those words he told me played in my head. “You know, Renai, you’re just going to have to dig in a little bit, you’re just going to have to really believe in yourself.” That might sound simple and basic, but sometimes that’s all we need, those simple, basic kernels of encouragement from someone who really believes in you.
Seth is the perfect blend of compassion and challenge. He doesn’t coddle you, he helps you see who you are and what your potential is. He helps you see what you’ve accomplished so you can recognize that if this new thing is what you really want, you’ll be able to accomplish that as well.
I’m currently working in what I would consider, and this is no exaggeration, my dream job. I finally feel like I’m in a position where I can grow and apply the things that I’ve learned over the years. It’s a great place to be.
I made the investment in myself because I felt like I was worth it. I didn’t know what to do, but I knew I needed to do something because I felt like my spirit was dying. And getting coaching from Seth lifted my spirit and gave me a sense of passion again about my purpose.
